SVHC Poetry Slam

Join us for an evening of poetry, community, and connection! Our first Poetry Slam will be this Friday, June 12 from 7 - 9 pm at the Ake Gallery, 165 Main St., Cortland, with proceeds benefiting the programs of SVHC.

The newly appointed Poet Laureate of Cortland County, Philip Asaph, will kick off the night. Then in an open-mic style, we'll welcome all to sign up to share their original poems on any theme (up to 5 minutes per person). Unlike traditional poetry slams, there will not be judges and no winner of the night, so novice and experienced poets welcome. If you'd like to read a poem, you can let us know ahead of time by emailing Carol at carol@sevenvalleyshealth.org or just sign up at the event!

Both poets and listeners welcome! Tickets are a suggested donation of $10 each. Refreshments provided for a suggested donation.

We’re hiring: social care navigator

SVHC is actively supporting Medicaid clients with food, transportation, and housing through the Medicaid 1115 waiver. The Social Care Navigator position will work closely with the current team to screen clients for eligibility, coordinate delivery of food boxes, and coordinate transportation for eligible clients. If you are looking to make a meaningful impact in your community while working in a dynamic and supportive environment, learn more and apply!

Upcoming Food Giveaway in June

We're making some changes for our next round of monthly food giveaways. We are shifting from Tuesdays to Wednesdays as well as shifting the start time from noon to 2 pm for the June, July and August giveaways.

Our next food giveaway is scheduled for Wed. June 24 from 2 to 6 pm at the food rescue hub, 174 Homer Ave, Cortland. There will be dairy, eggs, meat, produce, and pantry staples. Spread the word!

Volunteers Wanted

With our last 3 monthly food giveaways, Seven Valleys Food Rescue distributed over 17,000 pounds of food to approximately 1,000 households. It takes many hands to make this work possible, and we are grateful for our dedicated volunteers. Want to be part of our food systems work and make an impact in the Cortland community?
