SVHC Receives Geraldine Young Award from the Cortland County Farm Bureau
SVHC is honored to be the recipient of the 2025 Geraldine Young Friend of Agriculture Award. This award, established by the Cortland County Farm Bureau, recognizes an organization, business, or individual that contributes significantly to the support or advancement of the local farm economy. Nominations are accepted from Farm Bureau members and the winner is selected by the Farm Bureau board.
We at SVHC recognize the important role that Cortland County's local farms play in the health and well-being of our community. From nourishing food to a healthy economy, our local foods do so much. We are honored to support them through our food systems work, especially our Seven Valleys Food Rescue, Prescription Produce, and Cortland Harvest programs.

🍎🥦🥖
Since 2020, Seven Valleys Food Rescue has rescued 113,940 pounds of food in Cortland County—that's the equivalent of 94,950 meals redirected to people instead of landfills!
By preventing food waste, we're not just feeding our community—we’re reducing greenhouse gas emissions, saving resources, and building a more sustainable future. 🌱
Join us in celebrating Food Waste Prevention Week by learning how YOU can make an impact!
Now Accepting Applications for the 2025 PRx Season
The Produce Prescription Program purchases produce boxes from local farms and home delivers them to qualifying households at no cost. This 22-week program helps break down the barriers to healthy food access, ensuring everyone can enjoy the benefits of fresh, locally-sourced food.
Thanks to our participating farms, Main Street Farms and Freetown Food Forest.
