St. Mary's School Organizes this Year's Backpacks for Kids in Care Campaign

February 2, 2016

Thank you to St. Mary's School for organizing this year's Backpacks for Kids in Care campaign. Each year SVHC puts out a call for backpacks and these students stepped up and stocked our shelves for the whole year! Staff at St. Mary's School collaborated with community partners and welcomed staff from the JM Murray Center, YWCA Bridges for Kids program, Orabrite and SVHC backpack committee. Bags and items were donated and the kids filled 150 backpacks with clothes, books, small puzzles or games and personal care items. Backpacks are utilized throughout the year and given to kids when they are placed in foster care, given to kids with mentors in the bridges for kids program and utilized by the Red Cross when they assist kids after a fire. Several kids wrote a message on their bags knowing it was going to someone their age. ‪#‎kidshelpingkids‬ ‪#‎communityspirit‬
