Break the Silence Against Domestic Violence: a night of speakers, panel discussion, and film

 On July 23 the Cortland LGBT Resource Center, a division of Family Counseling Services, is partnering with the YWCA’s Aid to Victims of Violence are presenting a community event to spread social awareness and change surrounding domestic and intimate partner abuse within the straight and LGBT community.


The event will include a panel discussion incorporating local agencies, speakers, and advocates speaking out against domestic violence. These guests will address relationship violence,
highlight personal testimonies, and emphasize the importance of men as advocates.


It will also feature keynote speaker Kristen Paruginog the founder of Break the Silence Against Domestic Violence, a national non-profit organization that focuses on bringing a voice to survivors of domestic violence.


A special preview of the documentary The Return of Social Change from Break the Silence will be screened. This exclusive film presentation features survivors of domestic violence from across the United States who share their testimony and advice with the hope of inspiring viewers to take action and become more aware and educated on the severity of this epidemic
