Table HS-26: Cortland County Eighth Grade Survey Results: January 1996, 1998, 2000 and 2002*

 

The following table shows the results of four rounds of surveys done over the past six years in the local schools. Zero Adolescent Pregnancy or ZAP! sponsored this research done by an outside evaluator. ZAP is Cortland's award winning teen pregnancy prevention program of the Cortland County Health Department, the YWCA and the City Youth Bureau.

Actual Survey Questions

People refer to sexual intercourse in many ways -"making love," "having sex," or "going all the way." As far as you know, how many of your friends have done this? None; just a few; several; most of them; all of them

If your friends found out that you were having sex, how do you think they would feel? They would disapprove and stop being my friends. They would disapprove and still be my friends. They wouldn't care. They would approve.
