Infection Control and Barrier Precautions
CEHL 101. This course fulfills the training requirements of Chapter 786 of the Laws of New York, 1992, for physicians, physician assistants, dentists, dental hygienists, LPNs, optometrists, podiatrists, and RNs for infection control and barrier precautions prior to issuance of their license or renewal of registration.
Note: Recertification is required every four years.
Topics Include:
- professional responsibility for infection control
- modes and mechanisms of disease transmission and strategies for infection control
- selection and use of barriers and personal protective equipment
- prevention and control of communicable diseases in health care workers
- creation and maintenance of a safe patient care environment
