Support Groups

Autism Support Group

Several area parents have organized a support network for families with autistic children. The parent group offers opportunity for discussion and study of some unique issues these families encounter, for example, choosing a dentist or doctor experienced with autistic children, service and evaluation options, where to take their child for a haircut, specific informational opportunities for parents, respite choices, advocacy groups, and educational supports and options. Conversation with parents who have "been there" is most helpful for families just starting out.

This group meets the second Thursday of the month from 6:45 to 8:15 p.m. in the Cortland Area Child Care Council Conference room at 111 Port Watson St. and is for adults only.
