Alzheimer's Support Group

This support group is for people caring for a loved one with Alzheimer's disease or a related disorder. More than 7 out of 10 people with Alzheimer's disease live at home and 75% of those people are cared for by friends and family members. Support groups assist the caregiver in balancing their emotional needs with those for whom they are caring. In addition, valuable information is available regarding the special needs associated with caring for someone with dementia. When caregivers talk about their experiences and challenges, facilitators and other support group members are able to identify and offer help. Often, those who care for someone with dementia endure a challenging situation, and support groups are a great place to learn what has worked for others.

This group meets the second Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. at Walden Place, 839 Bennie Rd., Cortland.
