Cortland Chenango Rural Services

Food Assistance Programs (Cortland-Chenango Rural Services)

"Food Sense" - a self-help coop program, sponsored by the Food Bank of Central NY, providing a monthly food package. There are no income or geographic restrictions. Participants purchase a monthly package by paying $15.50 early in the month at Rural Services. (Many find the package worth approximately $25.) The packages are delivered at the end of each month and contain fresh fruits and vegetables, meats and other food items.

Cincinnatus Farmers' Market - a community development program designed to offer fresh, locally grown produce and farm products, and to encourage local economic enterprise. Open Saturdays 9 a.m. - 12 noon April through December. The market accepts NYS Farmers Market Nutrition checks from WIC families and senior citizens.

Bread and Baked Goods Distribution - is done twice a week in cooperation with Catholic Charities of Chenango County, and the Price Chopper and P&C Markets. Volunteers pick up the baked goods in Norwich. Tuesday and Thursday 2 -4 p.m.
