Traffic Safety and Injury Prevention

Focuses on bicycle safety and reducing motor vehicle crashes, fatalities, and injuries with an emphasis on occupant protection.

Project Examples:

Low Cost Bike Helmet Program - Provides top-quality, safety approved bike helmets to bicyclists of all ages. Full price is $10.00 and reduced price is $5.00. Reduced price is available to those who qualify for Food Stamps, public assistance, WIC, SSI, Medicaid, Head Start, or free or reduced school lunches. Call (607) 758-5523 to make an appointment.

Traveling Tots Program - A low cost child safety seat program. Traveling tots has convertible seat and booster seats available to accommodate children from 5-80 pounds. A certified child safety seat technician will teach you how to use the proper seat for maximum safety and will show you how to install it in your car. Call (607) 758-5523 for an appointment. For sliding fee, bring your pay stub, or a Medicaid, WIC, or PCAP card to your appointment. No seats or installations are provided without an appointment and instruction on how to use and install seats.

Buckle Bear - Teaches pre-school children proper seat belt use.

Bike Rodeos - Educates children on bicycle safety and proper use of helmets.
