Cortland County Health Department
Senior Citizen Immunization Clinics (Flu Shot)
Immunization clinics for Cortland County residents are scheduled for 14 different locations beginning in October. Both the flu and pneumonia vaccines will be offered. The flu vaccine is for individuals age 50 or older. The pneumonia vaccine is for individuals age 65 years or older who have never received the vaccine. These clinics are sponsored by the Cortland County Health Department in cooperation with the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) and the Area Agency on Aging.
Medical questions should be directed to a physician or the Cortland County Health Department at (607) 753-5203. For those who are eligible for Medicare Part B, which covers the immunizations, a claim will be submitted on an assigned basis. There will be no donation, co-payment or deductible amount due. Medicare enrollees need to bring their Medicare Card (red & blue striped card) to the clinics. For individuals not enrolled in Medicare, an $8.00 donation is suggested for flu. However, no one will be refused an immunization for their inability to donate.
Persons who are extremely sensitive (allergic) to eggs, chicken or chicken feathers should not have the vaccines. Flu vaccine is recommended to all persons age 50 years or older regardless of presence of chronic disease. Pneumonia vaccine is recommended for all persons age 65 or older.
PLEASE BRING LAST YEAR'S (YELLOW) IMMUNIZATION CARD!
