Health Child Care Consultant for Day Care Providers

A nurse provides health and safety education, onsite assistance with mandated health record development and reporting, availability for consultation on diseases or other health questions for Child Day Care Providers in the County including Licensed Day Care Centers and Registered home care providers.

The goal of the program is to allow Day Care Centers to keep "mildly ill" but not communicable children in the Centers when appropriate while allowing parents to continue in the work setting. The impetus for developing the program was Welfare Reform. Many parents have lost jobs due to illness of children who could not remain in day care according to State Regulations. With the training and consultation of the Nurse Consultant, mildly ill but non- communicable children can legally remain in day care.
