Family Health Network
School Health Programs
Comprehensive health care to school age children at four sites, Marathon Jr./Sr. High School, Appleby Elementary School, DeRuyter Central School, and Cincinnatus Central School. No out of pocket charges for services provided. Insurance companies, Medicaid and Child Health Plus billed. Grants from NY State help to underwrite cost of operations.
Each site has a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant as site lead and medical provider, LPN or RN and Medical Assistant, and Mental Health Counselor. FHN Pediatrician collaborates with site providers weekly. When school is not open, medical coverage is provided by FHN on-call providers and/or clinics.
Services provided by each site are acute and chronic medical care, physicals, vision and hearing testing, some laboratory testing, health education, and mental health counseling services. Any student is eligible to enroll in the SBHC; there are no financial restrictions. Applications are available at each SBHC site. Written parental permission is needed before a student can be treated in the SBHC.
