Cortland Regional Medical Center Volunteers - Hospital Auxiliary
The Hospital Auxiliary was established in 1953 as an active fund raising arm of the hospital. In its first year of operation membership reached 311 and $1,736 was raised. Today the CMH Auxiliary donates over $100,000 annually in support of hospital programs and equipment. In 2001, its members volunteered over 40,400 hours of service.
Hospital Auxiliary volunteers, from teenagers to older adults, work in various areas of CMH, performing important tasks that support the day-to-day operations of the hospital.
Volunteer Hosts and Hostesses are on duty in First In Surgery, the operating waiting rooms and the Emergency Department. These volunteers are on hand to help with communications, making sure that patients and their families are kept up to date on the patient's status and treatment.
Admitting Receptionists greet and coordinate patients upon their arrival for outpatient services, ambulatory surgery and inpatient admission.
The CRMC Coffee & Gift shop is the Auxiliary's main fundraiser. Each week 70 volunteers are needed to serve as waiters, cooks and cashiers.
Other volunteers help with clerical duties, deliver flowers to patients, and staff the Information Desk in the main lobby.
