Cortland Regional Medical Center Maternity Department

As part of our commitment to this goal, we recently began to renovate our Maternity Department to create more of a family atmosphere. Our three birthing rooms have been updated to provide a warmer, more home-like setting. Four of our maternity suites have been converted to private rooms, decorated with new paint, wallpaper, blinds, and comfortable furnishings. Thanks to this new furniture, Dad or another family member can spend the night with Mom and the new baby .The remodeling of our Maternity Department extends out into the hallways and patient lounge area, with fresh paint and decorative wall hangings helping to create a bright, cheery atmosphere.

The new private maternity suites also help support our "Mother/Baby" philosophy. We believe that it's important for mothers and their newborns to start the bonding process right after delivery. That's why we encourage our moms to keep their babies with them as much as they would like. If needed, the option for some rest time is still always available. Another important aspect of Mother/Baby care is that one nurse cares for both mom and baby after the birth. This allows better coordination of care for the new family.

All of our expectant and new mothers receive high quality care with a personal touch in comfortable surroundings. Our experienced medical staff is there to provide you with continuing support during your labor and delivery. After delivery, our nurses will review newborn care and other information you need to know to get started during your first weeks at home. All instruction is tailored to meet your specific needs.

Visiting Hours:

Siblings and grandparents: 9 am - 9 pm
All other visitors: 11 am - 8 pm
