Retired and Senior Volunteers Program (RSVP)
The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) exists to help channel the talents of people age 55 and over into the community through volunteer service. RSVP volunteers serve through non-profit private and public community organizations. There are no education, experience or income requirements.
RSVP matches volunteer opportunities to an individual's specific interest and needs. The opportunities and flexibility of scheduling are as diverse as the volunteers themselves. Volunteers receive a brief orientation from RSVP staff and additional instruction, supervision and support at the volunteer sites.
RSVP provides the individual with challenging and interesting activities, while at the same time helping to meet the needs of the community. Opportunities are available for friendly visitors, hospital work, clerical assignments, intergenerational programs, and many other diverse assignments. The reward most often cited, however, is the feeling of satisfaction that comes form sharing one's time and talents with others.
RSVP volunteers are covered by an accident and liability policy while on assignments, and can receive assistance with incidental expenses such as transportation.
