TLC Emergency Medical Services has become one of the premier ambulance companies in New York State. Recognized throughout the country for public service programs, TLC was also named outstanding Service Company in Cortland County by the Cortland County Chamber of Commerce in 1996.
TLC personnel provide the highest level of pre-hospital emergency medical assistance available. Their dispatch center is located in the Cortland County 911 Center and is staffed with certified Emergency Medical Dispatchers, the first link in the lifesaving emergency medical chain. All TLC ambulances are staffed with Advanced Life Support personnel, who are able to provide lifesaving assistance to the population we serve. Through the use of System Status Management, which allows them to place their duty ambulances in strategic locations around the county based on call volume and time of day, TLC works diligently to keep emergency response times well under the national standard.
TLC currently employs approximately 50 Emergency Medical Dispatchers, Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics. Many of their employees live in Cortland County and volunteer their emergency medical services training and time in other agencies throughout the region. Employees also have the chance to become instructors in courses that TLC sponsors. An exciting new program titled the Public Safety Critical Incident Management (PSCIM) course brings representatives from police, fire, EMS, and industry organizations together to educate about how their organizations respond and react in the event of a disaster.
As a responsible community member, TLC has contributed to various local charitable organizations and provided medical assistance at community events.
