The Cortland Area Child Care Council is a not-for-profit community agency whose purpose is to help parents, child care providers of all kinds, and employers meet their needs and the needs of Cortland's children. It is their goal to make child care a positive experience that is available, affordable, and easily accessible for any child who needs it in this county.
For parents
- Free help in finding child care that meets your individual family's needs
- Contact with New York State registered day care providers, day care centers and nursery schools
- Information about finding quality day care and appropriate questions to ask potential day care providers
- Assistance in locating other child-related services, such as child care subsidies, early intervention programs, health care and insurance, etc.
For child care providers
- Help in getting started, including orientation to the profession, consultations on center start-up, and health and safety start-up grants for financial assistance
- Training, including required family child care training leading to NYS registration/licensing, required center staff training, on-site training, and workshops and seminars of general interest
- Ongoing support, through child care referral service, child care food program, ECHO newsletter, telephone support, and advocacy on child care issues.
